-Elisabeth Elliot-
Jesus loves us while knowing all about us; that includes the worst "parts" of us.
He "washes our feet" daily.
By Grace we are saved.
And we are called to do the same for others.
But servanthood and love aren't usually on our minds...are they?
Our love doesn't stray too far from self.
That self-nature inside us all can survive almost anything.
It dies hard.
Why?
Because we give it life.
We don't die to it...to ourselves...daily.
Not really.
Our actions are a result of our deepest thoughts and subconscious beliefs.
What do your actions say about you?
Plain.
Simple.
Love.
Service.
Humility.
Do we dare?
We must understand that something happens;
Something happens when we are faced with that choice:
To choose the Self or to choose the Divine.
Something literally happens
in realms we can't see.
And if you choose the Divine,
A small victory is won
on behalf of you.
Ties are broken,
when you turn your back
on your selfish nature.
Transformation.
Piece by piece.
The more we choose self,
the more the divine nature in us dies.
The more we choose self,
the more miserable we become.
(But self never wants us to know this).
The more we choose self,
the less love we receive
The more we choose self,
the less of God we experience.
Because God created you for Himself,
Not for you.
And we wonder WHY so many people are so miserable.
And we wonder WHY love has become some distant, romantic concept.
We live for self.
And we love when we feel like it.
We serve when it's convenient.
And some of us,
most of us,
are partners with Pride;
that even if we touched humility
we'd be proud of it.
There's been a breach
Between who we are today
And Who we are created IN and called to be.
Called by Love
To do 2 things
Love God
And love others.
As he first loved us.
No matter what.
And without fail.
